What is discrimination at the workplace

Discrimination is defined as statements and actions that disparage or disadvantage persons on the basis of various characteristics such as gender, origin, nationality, religion, skin color, age,sexual identity, disability or political conviction. At the workplace, this applies in particular to discrimination in the employment, assignment of tasks,organization of working conditions, wages, training or further education,promotion or dismissal. Examples of discrimination are:

  • Verbal or written statementsand actions with derogatory content for the reasons mentioned above
  • Any acts of bullying with a discriminatory background
